-THE BALLAD OF LEIKA ROBERTSON-
Leika was like a graduating student. In fact she was a graduating student. However, unlike most of the other graduating students, she had recently given birth to a child named Porpoise. In fact, none of the other graduateers had recently given birth to a child named Porpoise.
It was Leika Robertson's graduation night. She was going to finally be able to act like a real teenage girl -- not a teen mother of a child with a weird name. She would walk across the stage like a normal teenage girl, go to the party like a normal teenage girl. Just be one for once.
Two hours later. Her ride never came.
She expected this. Anticipated betrayal.
With a sigh she walked down the pathway and to the sidewalk, then down the little paved sliver of walkitude until she came to one of her favorite spots to be.
It was an old farmhouse. It had a porch. She walked toward it and plopped down in in the rickety rocking chair that was always kept there on the porch.
It gave her comfort. The embarrassing fact was that she had no friends. No one liked her. She didn't know why.
But this chair. This chair had been there since she was incredibly young. Young beyond memory's farthest reaches, and it never failed to support her. To stand by her in the hardest times.
She rocked back and forth humming a little and attempting to withhold her sobs with little to no avail.
In a sudden burst of fury towards all the "normal" people in her grade, she ripped off her graduation robes with a single yank, revealing her yellow dress below.
She continued to rock back and forth, back and forth.
Porpoise wasn't hers. He couldn't have been her's. She'd never had sex in her life.
At first she'd wondered if it had been a Jesus-baby, born to a virgin, destined to become a deity.
But then the baby was born and she saw his face, and dang that was an ugly baby.
Porpoise certainly wasn't a Jesus-baby.
This farm. What was special about this farm?
Suddenly it collapsed from above as something large and blubbery crashed into it. It was a humongous, Godzilla-sized whale, and it was screaming something:
"I AM PORPOISE, I HAVE BROKEN FREE FROM MY COCOON. I AM THE LORD AND SAVIOR TO ALL WATER-DWELLING MAMMALS ON THIS EARTH! ...HI MOOMMMMM!!"
Leika Robertson died suddenly from shock.
